Week 12 in reubicaciòn! No changes!

Week #17
5/30/16

Hey everyone!! This week was really good! In our mission we recently had our norms of excellency removed, not sure if i mentioned this before but they were standards of numbers that we were supposed to meet each week, but they were taken away and i like the missionary work a lot more like this! we have a lot more time to focus on our baptismal dates and on less actives and working with members! We have had a lot of success getting really positive references through the members and they have all been really good about working with us! We have 5 people this month that are very positive and are probably secure baptisms! I love this area so much! the people are so amazing and heavenly father had prepared so many of them to listen to us! We have been having very cool experiences with a man names Stanly. We contacted him about 2 weeks ago outside his house, and he was really really nice and respectful and positive. He told us to come back that friday in the morning and we did. We walked into his house and opn his desk he had about 10 books.. all of them were books about the bible, the bible or teachings of the bible books.. then i saw his bookshelf, with about 50 more! ALL about religion haha we looked at each other and were like oh boy here we go haha! The first thing he said to us was that he was a pastor of a seventh day adventist church! he has been a pasotr for almost a year but he studied for 4 years to get the job. But he told us next that he didnt let us into his house to teach us anything he sad that he wanted to learn and that he was going to listen! We had a really cool first lesson and invited him to be baptised, he said yes and accepted a date. Now of course when we put dates it is only a goal and we are not going to have a baptism if he doesnt receive his answer so its nothing secure right now but he is very positive and told us that if the spirit tells him to get baptized he will! and that he isnt going to deny what we say just because his parents taught him the things he knows! We have had a few lessons with him now, he gives us an hour every Friday morning to teach him! Hes very very busy so its cool that hes so willing to have us! We are increasing hte church attendance here which makes me really happy! we had 60 in church on sunday! 6 investigators and 5 less actives! i love this branch and i am so happy that i will be here longer!! So We dont have have changes which means i will spend 6 months here for sure! Elder acosta finishes his mission this change soo i will be here this change and the net for sure to show someone else the area! and who knows for how long after that!! But i am okay with it cause this area rocks! Only thing is that i am not looking forward to being his last companion haha he always talks about going home which makes it hard for me to focus sometimes but it will all be good! he is a good missionary and were doing really good work together! We had a family home evening with a member family and an investigator family and played a game called flour face haha fun game and theres a picture of what happens when you lose haha! We had another baptism this week! his name is Marcelo, he is 8 and he is awesome!! Very positive little boy and loves going to church! We are very excited for him and his family! his mom is also a member! oh yea, so we have also been teaching an English class every Sunday evening! which is really fun haha i can speak English so its a good class! Thats all i can think of for now hahah but all is well and we are doing great in our area!! Hope all is well for all of you at home! Have a great week!! Thanks for reading!! No time to write out a testimony, sorry about that! Next week i promise!! Oh and the other picture is just a silly selfie that i took this morning cause i was bored haha!

Week 11 in Reubicación

Week #16
5/26/16
Hey everyone!! This week was average haha! I was really sick for most of the week so we couldn't work until Friday.. which really stunk! Still don't know what i had, they never told me they just gave me a bunch of medicines to take. But i am better now! Unfortunately though this will be another short email. Since we only worked from Friday to Sunday not too much happened. Friday we did companion divisions and i worked in my area with elder Garcia. It was cool, i really enjoy the opportunity to learn from other missionaries. Everyone has their own way of teaching and different examples and such, so it was a good day! We visited Concepcion and had some good lessons! We have a lot of progressing investigators there and are hoping to baptize three kids names lizbet iverson and Nicole soon! Saturday i was back with my companion and we worked with a member in an area called Paraiso. We visited one of the members friends and he was really positive and accepted a date to be baptized so we are excited to have more opportunities to teach over there in Paraiso because we dont work there a whole lot! Then we came back to our colony for a baptism!! We baptized this old lady named Carmen. She is so funny, she is 80 years old! and when we talked to her 3 weeks ago about baptism she asked us when she could be baptized!! so we had the service Saturday and it was awesome! Sunday was a normal Sunday.. Not too exciting, i still have a hard time understanding super well so Sundays arnt as nice as i wish they were. I end up lost a lot during the lessons and talks. But in the evening i had the opportunity to play a members guitar for a few minutes which i really enjoyed!! i miss my instruments haha! But overall besides being sick the week was great!
Thanks for reading!

Week 8 in reubicaciòn

Week #13
5/2/16

Hey everyone! Buenas días!

this email is going to be relatively short! we spent a lot of time this week preparing for our baptism! So we spent time every day in concepciòn. We had lots of visits with our progressing investigators there and did some service for a guy that were teaching digging a bathroom for him haha it needs to be as deep as i am tall so we will go back and help again! I got a chance to do interchanges with a zone leader this week and it was pretty cool! hes was a super cool guy and a really good missionary! I really enjoyed teaching with him! I learned a lot! we have a lot of progressing investigators and really good numbers! but this week it has been hard to find news! we only found 11 and the norm. is 12 so we were a tad bit upset with that but im happy we found a lot of positive news! I am doing way better in lesons now! i feel relatively comfortable with my Spanish and can participate good in lessons! This week we have been practicing giving m the opportunity to invite others to do things.. be baptized read and other stuff like that so its has been fun! We are working mostly with our baptismal dates to try and really have the dates stay! often times they fall because they dont go to church or because they frink coffee or something so were trying to work with them a lot to help them reach their goals we set! We have also been trying to work with less actives in our area! We need to increase the attendance here in our branch so they will start building a chapel! That is my goal we need like a constant 80 and right now we have 50 to 60..I really want them to start that i think it would be good for the branch! We had a cool experience with one less active, her name is Kati and she really wanted to come back to church but she has work on sundays and we had been teaching her endure to the end and stuff like that and promised her that if she showed the lord she was willing to sacrifice a little she would be blessed with a way to go to church, and turned out that this past Sunday she didn't have to work and was able to attend church! we were very excited for her! she hadnt been in over a year and a half! So the week was great! we had lots of success and fun along the way as well! but unfortunately Saturday we did not have the baptisms! we filled the pila and prepared the whole service and they didn't show up! We were super bummed! so we went to concepciòn and found them and rescheduled it for that afternoon at 4 and when the time came they didnt show up again! we were pretty disappointed about that but we talked to him at church and he said they couldn't do it because something serious came up so we will have it this weekend! He felt bad and we were happy to hear that it wasn't because he wasn't ready! Sunday was good! we had descent attendance! we brought 11 people to church so for that we were happy! other than that not much happened! today for pday we played softball which was really fun! we mowed the grass into a diamond and played i had a good time! all the missionaries came and some members played too! Anyways thats all for the week! thanks! i am out of time so no Spanish testimony this week! i apologize! but im doing great and i am loving everything about being here in the mission! Thanks for reading and i hope everyone has a fantastic week!!

Week 7 in Reubicación!

Week #13
4/25/16
Hey everyone!! this week has been pretty good! I will apologize in advance, i forgot my journal today so i am going to have a hard time remembering all that we did this week! But the week was really good! Monday, we found out late afternoon that Elder Le May had changes, and i would be receiving a new companion. So we went around to converts in the area and Elder Le May said goodbye to them. Then we visited with the branch president and then returned home to allow him to pack his things and prepare for the change, which could have been very early in the morning. There was not much information given all we knew at the time was that he was leaving. Tuesday morning we received more information and took Elder Le may to the bus stop and waited with his until the bus came, then i spent the afternoon with the branch mission leader. I really like him his name is Johnathon hes 20 and preparing for his mission! We still didn't have much info about what we had to do so we waited in the house did studies and then headed to the chapel to wait. We were there for a while waiting before we received info about my new companion! Elder Acosta is my new companion, hes a great missionary and is really excited to be working here in reubicacion! he is a powerful missionary and im earning a lot from him. We should have a lot of success this change! Tuesday night after he arrived we put his stuff in the house and headed out to go present him to the ward members and a few investigators that we teach in our colony. It was late so we didn't have tons of time but it was a good day! Wednesday we had a normal day of studies and work. studies are really long while you are in training, which is hard for me sometimes but it is good I always learn something new and find things that io can share with investigators to help them! We study from 8-12 so there's a lot of time! I am soon going to receive the institute manuals in English and i plan to read the all to gain more knowledge because sometimes i don't feel like i know enough in lessons haha! so i am really excited to get those! We went to concepcion every day this week because a lot of our progressing investigators are there! it was really great! we are preparing eugenito and his father eugnio for baptism this week and hoping that we can have another young boy named Gabriel ready too! we will for sure have one baptism but are hoping for three! we have had alots of success this week though! we put 6 new baptismal dates and had the church attendance to 50 from last weeks 35. We found 12 new investigators and some of them are really positive! we had a lesson with an old lady named Carmen and we taught baptism to her. She has been an investigator for a long time and when we stopped talking she was quiet and asked us, when can i be baptized! so we will baptize her hopefully in 3 weeks! It was a really cool experience! Sunday i had to give a talk in church which i didn't enjoy but it was good. I spent the week prepping it! it was on the holy ghost and i learned a lot! but im glad its over haha i don't like public speaking! other than that i dont have much else to share from this week, just getting to know my new companion and enjoying the area and the mission!
Thanks for reading!! hope all is well with everyone!

Este semana fue excelente como siempre! Me encantan mi área!
Gracias! Adiós!

Week 6 in Reubicaciòn

Week #12
4/18/16
Hey everyone!!
This week was super nice! it was a pretty relaxed week, Monday pday and paint balling was a blast, Tuesday we went to the temple! it was so nice! the San Salvador temple is my new favorite temple it is sooo beautiful inside and out!And it was fun to see everyone in the mission! Wednesday we put three baptismal dates and we were excited for that! with two that we have been teaching for a long time but usually cant find the dad but they are both ready and should both get baptized within these next few weeks! the little one was supposed to be this week but we had trouble with the mother. She doesn't live with them and doesn't see the kid but the father wanted to talk to her but couldn't find her! So we will have his baptism this week! The other was the older sister of the family that we baptized in my first week. She wants to get baptized right now because she thinks Elder Le May is attractive haha but she said we could keep teaching her haha! she lives really far away though out of our area so we need to figure it out! Thursday we worked really hard! We went to all of our areas! lots of traveling and walking! not too much success in finding people home but enough to make our trips worth it! We also found out this week that the family of ten we found the other week, the father is a pastor at a church next door so it has been fun teaching him haha i dont do anything.. Elder Le May and him talk about the bible and he teaches him well! I don't know enough about the bible to talk to a pastor haha so im learning! This week during studies i studies other religions to know how to teach to different people, we went over what they believe and what scriptures are good to shre with them! im really happy that we did that! I think it will help me a lot in the future! I still need to study it all but now i have all the info! Friday was kinda random. We had plans for going to concepcion to plan for the baptism we were going to have but then found out it wasn't going to happen so we didn't have any good plans so we decided to pray and look in the area book and decide where to go! We decided we wanted to go to the sketchy part of our are but president said no.. We wanted to go so were were sad haha! there are two places in my area that are really dangerous and i want to go! So after asking and being told no we decided to go to El Limón where we were going to find our news for the week! We looked around and talked to lots of people but didn't find anyone who wanted to hear, so we started heading back to the area when we saw lots of smoke! Then we turned a corner and saw someones whole field on fire! so we were firefighters for like an hour and a half cause it was really big and they needed help! it was pretty fun but we smelled really bad! haha! so we went home and changed and went back out to work in our colony! Oh yea, I forgot to say that the people we helped sid we could come back and teach them so we ended up finding 14 news! haha so we were happy! Saturday we had an activity and showed meet the Mormons and it was really cool we had 5 investigators there! it was in the evening so we spent the morning inviting people! Sunday was good, the attendance wasn't great but it was a good day! Overall a great week of great experiences and lots of fun along the way! Thanks for reading!!
